PX XT/AT PCB Interface (Antipodean)
Has anyone ever used a PIC to make use of an old PC/AT I/O interface board? I envisage the PMP/EPMP of the 16/32 bit series devices could be made to do this, I just wondered if anyone had tried....

Back in the 90s I did deal with the XT/AT bus quite a lot, but it was way earlier than PICs " />I only used Z80 and TTL or PIOs...

Hah, I did an interface back in the 1980's to use an ISA bus hard driver controller driven by a Z80.That was back in the days when a 20 Megabyte hard drive was HUGE!

you need 20 bits addressing and 16 bits data (for AT) + a bunch more pins.probably do-able.

boscoyou need 20 bits addressing and 16 bits data (for AT) + a bunch more pins.probably do-able.Well, only if addressing a megabyte of memory. Many I/O cards require only a small number of address...

The questions are:Are the acquisition board specs high enough to make it worthwhile? Do yu have adequate hardware documentation? If so, a PIC32 'motherboard' with a couple of ISA AT bus slots might...
